Monday night we filled another truck which will head on down to drop off our donations in New York City tomorrow.  We here at Occupy Utica would like to give a very big thank you to everybody who donated their time and goods, and especially to our truck driver, John Ryan, for volunteering to take everything he possibly could! Thank you so much!

Now, back to business!

We no longer need general clothing supplies (the response was incredible in that aspect). However, we still need cold weather clothing. We will continue to accept donations of the following clothing items.

Winter hats

We are also looking for (and in great need of) the following items:

Heavy Duty Garbage Bags
Cleaning Supplies
Baby Food/Formula
Gloves (work, plastic, latex, winter, etc)
Masks (for cleaning/protection purposes)
Rubber Boots
Serving Dishes and Utensils
Anything that produces heat (Portable heaters, hand warmers, etc)
Non-Perishable Food
Cardboard Boxes
Packaging Tape
School Supplies (for the children who go back to school on Monday!)

Also, if you have a truck and/or trailer (of any size) and are willing to donate your time and vehicle to help get supplies down to NYC we would absolutely LOVE to hear from you! Please send us a message us on facebook or email us at so we can coordinate pickup, dropoffs, and load amounts!

This cities response to Occupy Sandy has been overwhelming to say the least. Now it is time for us to really focus our donation efforts on the exact needs of what the people down in the affected areas truly need. If you have any of the items listed above please drop them off to us! We will be at The Other Side (2011 Genesee Street, across from the Uptown Theater) everyday this week from 4-6pm.

If you don’t have any of the above items but still wish to donate we are also accepting monetary donations to help get the items down to Occupy Sandy.  Any money leftover from transportation cost will be used to purchase additional items for Occupy Sandy Hurricane Relief. Remember, Occupy Utica and Occupy Sandy are 100% volunteer efforts, with $0 overhead costs.  We run completely on donations of time, effort, goods, and money. Since we have no six figure CEO salaries to cover (like many so called charities out there) your dollar will go a lot farther with us, than it will with charities like the American Red Cross.

Now if you are like us and want to back your donations with actions, we are also looking for volunteers to help us sort, process and package our donations. This is especially important the next few days since there are events at The Other Side after our allotted drop off time. It is only fair for us to be gracious guests in this community space and leave The Other Side as clean for them as they do for us. But we will need your help to make it so! If you are interested in volunteering your time and effort, feel free to join us from 4-6pm each day this week!

Thanks again to everybody who is helping out and donating to the relief efforts and please remember, “Solidarity Not Charity!”

Ramblin Sean
